Song meaning:
This song tells you how to be brave in live. It's a song about having courage to deal with problems in life, and about life itself. There's a saying each one of us misses something, has lost something and wants to get something. For me, this is true. In the song, set up at the middle age, the main character loses the last of his parents and at the moment of the loss, he promises to be brave and fulfil the mission he has in life. Regardless of his feelings on dispair, he must forget about hos loss, take the rains of his horse and follow his way.
The main character sings this song so as to get the courage he needs in his task, leading to the song chorus:

And if something tried to change me from my own,
Pain would make me stronger; no-one can touch my soul.
It means he won't fear a lightstorm and he will keep on fighting regardless the grimmest the situation is. Next, he mentions that if something tries to change him (a tragical event, perhaps, or maybe someone who doesn't accept you as you are) this pain suffered, instead of letting him down, it will meke him stronger.
The character defeats many dragons and enemies and then he has to face a fierce battle at the end.

Again we can read the same idea: the main character won't give up regardless the hardness of the situation. After this he gets close to the song chorus and says:

George R.R.Martin wrote the sentence: Fear cuts deeper than swords" which is exactly the same I was thinking when writting this song. Fear is the character's worst nightmare, because it lessens his capacity to overcome problems. After this the main character sings a variation of the initial chorus, -which is the part I most enjoyed writting.
