Meaning:
This song is about realisation. Realisation on how someone you love does not feel the same, having you only as a second choice, because he/she doesn't want to be alone, and only calls you when he/she needs you, not responding when it's you the one at need.
The voice in the song feels afraid because when he needs the one he loves he lacks the support or correspondance, like feeling walking on the air, where, at any moment you can fall down and crash. The other person is not in love with the voice in the song, and didn't correspond when she had the chance, staying closer to the other person just in case her own plans didn't work, having him as a second chance.
However, when plans didn't run as expected, she tries to contact him, telling lies about her own feelings towards him. He doesn't buy it though, and decides to end up the relationship, accepting reality as it is, and trying to follow his own path.
